. Does VP make ISIS Drive bottom brackets?

VP supports the ISIS Drive concept. We have been involved with the project since September 2001. The ISIS Drive design makes a lot of sense. It offers genuine advantages over the square tapered bottom bracket / crank interface. Our first ISIS drive product came off the assembly line in November 2002, made according to the project's exacting standards.

. Are VP ISIS bottom brackets compatible with ISIS cranks made by other companies?

VP ISIS Drive bottom brackets are designed and manufactured strictly according to the ISIS Drive standard specifications. Yes they are compatible with ISIS Drive compliant cranksets made by other companies.

. What is the difference between a Cartridge bottom bracket (BB) and a Semi-cartridge BB?

Cartridge BBs are standard these days on better quality bicycles. The cartridge BB consists of a single unit (apart from a loosely attached cup), that is screwed into the BB shell of the frame. No adjustment is necessary. Normally cartridge BBs are not serviceable, and must be replaced at the end of their life. The semi-cartridge BB is a hybrid, somewhere between a traditional cup and cone BB and a cartridge BB. Parts are enclosed in a cartridge but the bearings still need to be adjusted before securing the lockring.
